Bag the Bruck

In Orkney, the local word used for "rubbish" is "Bruck" Every year we have a "Bag the Bruck" weekend, where members of the local community get together to collect "bruck" from anywhere where people may want to enjoy the outdoors. People clean up the beaches and walkways and in doing so make the environment a nicer and cleaner place. St Andrews takes part in this local activity and last April, the P2's set off with staff and parent helpers to go and clean up Newark Beach in Deerness. Together they collected 16 green bin liners full of "Bruck" and left the beach sparkling clean!
