MINUTES OF LAST MEETING

Proposed by Kevin Hancock

Seconded by Margaret Kirkness

MATTERS ARISING

•  Mary's meals & The Back Pack Project

It was suggested that the Pupil Council should be given the responsibility to undertake this project. Thelma is going to arrange for this to happen and let Stacey know what arrangements have been made regarding the project.

•  “Have Sum Fun”

After a lengthy discussion regarding having some maths activities around the school on parents evening   it was felt that this would be a good idea and a good way of promoting the members of the parent Council.

Kevin suggested that a letter was put out to the parents informing them about the Parent Council and that they would be promoting everyday maths at the parents evening. Peter is going to compose an informative letter and send it to Stacey for her to send out from a central e-mail server.

It was felt that it would be nice for the Parent Council to have their personal headed paper.

Peter and Stacey are going to put some ideas together and e-mail them to the members for feedback.

The final headed letter is to be circulated the first week back at school.

Kevin reminded the forum that the Parent Council had spoken about serving refreshments on this night.   It was suggested to ask somebody to take charge of this.   Marilyn was going to look into the rules and regulations to the usage of school kitchens and of serving hot refreshments at a school parents evening.

Ernie made a suggestion that he could cancel the Holm Youth Club on the night of parents evening and use the Youth Workers to come to the school to help with the activities.

Peter suggested that we all get together before the parents evening to finalise what everybody is doing.   This meeting was decided to be held on Monday 10 th November at 7.30pm.

Below are suggestions that people have offered to do on the night of parents evening:

•  Bank Account

Stacey took bank account details and forms to be filled in to open an account.   Peter, Louise and Stacey are to meet on Wednesday this week to open the account with the Bank of Scotland for ‘St. Andrews Parent Council'.

•  Payment to Amanda

It was felt that it would be a nice gesture to pay Amanda for her time and trouble to come and take pictures of the Parent Council members to display in the school foyer.   Unfortunately with having no bank account open yet the Parent Council were unable to oblige, therefore Thelma suggested that the school give her a remittance for her time and effort.

•  Public Liability

Public liability was brought up at the meeting and Marilyn said that it was covered if the Parent Council supported the school with an event, but that the Parent Council would not be covered if they had an organized event independently.

•  Date of the AGM

To be confirmed

•  Constitution

This has been passed to the Council's solicitor Sheila Tulloch for approval.

CORRESPONDENCE

Peter has various correspondences which it felt was better to be catalogued into categories and put into files then placed in the school office giving access to anybody that wished to peruse it.   Stacey and Ernie are to do this together.
